In 2005 I was using heavily, RX drugs obtained from the Internet, and my daughter was getting married. She only asked one thing of me for her wedding present, besides spending more than $25,000 on her wedding, and that was to attend her ceremony completely sober. I did so, but the day after I started using again until April 13, 2006.
My other daughter got married in 2006 in May. Her wedding took place in Hawaii. I missed it and her reception. Needless to say, she wrote me off completely. I was still too sick from withdrawal until July. I went to rehab, for the 5th or 6th time for my daughters, but ended up getting clean & sober for myself & have remained so since. I suffer from major depression, so at times my sobriety is challenged, but so far I have not used yet. I will not use today, but I can never forget that YET!!
